In line with advice from the RSPB, we are reducing bird feeding during the summer months. This is to help reduce the spread of avian flu and other infections. A full explanation is given on the RSPB website.

Miles without Stiles!
After much path work recently, the Lake District National Park Authority has designated us as suitable for all ability users as part of the "Miles without Stiles" initiative! We are path number 27 on their website. There are some soft patches due to the recent rains on the paths that have been resurfaced in the last few weeks, we would ask wheelchair and buggy users to take care.
Please note that mobility scooters must be class 2 or 3 on the route.

Now that Spring is with us, things are livening up with much to see and appreciate. Please be aware that we have ground nesting birds on site. Dog owners must keep their dogs on a lead.

Donations: Many visitors donate generously to our activities by leaving a contribution in the box on site, many thanks for your support!

Booking for activities - email us to let us know you would like to come. Please do not just turn up, there may not be any spaces left. Remember to check the weather forecast and dress appropriately.

All events / walks start 10:00 (apart from where noted) at the entrance gate to the Silver Meadows reserve. Places are limited. We have finished the rebuild of the Celtic Shelter and completed more work including wattle and daubing the Viking Shelter in Autumn 2025!
More work will be needed soon to repair the ravages of winter.

Hedge near the A66 road
After gaining permission and funding, we have installed and planted with a selection of suitable species two sections of hedge alongside the existing fence which borders the A66 on either side of the large gate allowing farm access. It is starting to form an attractive border to the site as seen from the roadside. We are now looking at ways to enhance the entrance to the site, including an information board about hedges.
