The Dubwath site is easy to find: we are just off the A66 at the Pheasant Inn / Dubwath (B5291) junction, on the Pheasant Inn side.
- SatNav: postcode CA13 9YL.
- OS Grid reference: NY 198 309
- What 3 Words: ///newlywed.struts.originals
Buses:
- X5 (Keswick - Cockermouth via Thornthwaite), alight at Dubwath. Beware no dropped kerb and you need to cross the A66.
- X4 (Keswick - Cockermouth via Castle Inn), alight at Brathay Hill. Both services run all year.
- Trains: none since 1966!
- Bicycles: 3km / 2 miles from the coast to coast route, racks available.
- The site is free for visitors to enjoy all year round on a permissive basis.
In order to ensure your and other's safety we have some site rules:
- Sensible footwear
- Stay on the paths
- Keep dogs on a lead at all times
- Pick up dog litter, a bin is available to put it in.
- This is part of a working farm: keep clear of farm vehicles and animals
- Pick up any litter (bin available)
- No smoking
- Keep safe, there can be deep water in places
- We have an agreement to this effect with the tenant farmer, whether or not there is stock in the meadow. The grass needs to be kept unpolluted for traditional haymaking.
- There are ground-nesting birds, deer and other wildlife. (We have had a deer killed escaping from a dog.)
- The path is permissive, not a right of way, so if people wish to walk their dog unleashed please could they take it elsewhere.
Dubwath Silver Meadows is managed by a dedicated group of volunteers.
